  APPEAL TO PUBLIC

National Film Archive of India was set up by the Govt. of India under the Ministry of Information and
Broadcasting in February 1964 with the primary charter of acquiring and preserving the heritage of Indian
Cinema. With Headquarters in Pune the Archive has three Regional Offices at Bangalore, Calcutta and
Thiruvananthapuram. Over almost four decades of its existence as a centre for dissemination of film
culture in the country, NFAI continues to be vigorous about its search for various kinds of cinematic
material for preservation. They include negatives and prints of films from the silent era and nitrate era.
We are looking for such material belonging to the early period of Indian Cinema upto 1965. However, the
copyright of such material deposited with NFAI will rest with the copyright owners.

In addition to films we are also looking for ancillary material such as still photographs, wallposters,
songbooklets, shooting scripts, publicity folders, press clippings, costumes and old disc records.

It is our appeal to the general public and laboratories in the country to deposit such material for
preservation in ideal storage condition in the specialized film vaults of NFAI.

Join hands with us and be a partner in safeguarding a great heritage.
All correspondence for terms and conditions may be addressed to
